Chihuahua breeder in Georgia
The safety of our chihuahuas and their puppies is our #1 TOP PRIORITY. That being said, I decided to dedicate a page on my website to go over a few things with potential buyers. This is because I've had people in the past not understand why I won't allow people to come to my home. For some, this may be understandable and for others, not so much. Please consider what I am saying. If you do not understand after reading my reasons, one of my puppies is NOT for you.
We DO NOT allow potential buyers to come to our home to "visit" or pick up puppies for several reasons.
1. We chance our young puppies being exposed to deadly viruses, such as parvo-virus when people come into our home. Parvo-virus can be easily tracked from one area to the next by shoes and other things. Basically, parvo-virus can live and thrive on anything and it lives in soil for YEARS. It can even be transferred from hands to puppies if someone happened to be in contact with a dog carrying the virus. This is why vet techs working at your veterinarian hospital will not handle your puppy if they've been taking care of one with parvo. They will have another technician handle your puppy. That virus will be on their clothes, shoes and skin.
If a chihuahua puppy catches parvo, it's extremely hard on them and many will not pull through. This is just something we don't take chances with.
2. The next thing I want to bring up, something many people wouldn't ever think about. When visitors come to our home, it can severely stress out new mothers. The job of a mother is to care for, feed and protect her young. When people she does not know come around her puppies, her NATURAL reaction is to defend and try to keep them away from possibly hurting her babies. I would never intentionally put any unnecessary stress on any of my mother dogs. ESPECIALLY with the new mommas who may have had an emergency c-section and need their recovery time in peace.
3. I must protect my OWN human babies. I have 3 girls of my own. My husband is not always home as he works out of town a lot. I homeschool my youngest daughter so she is ALWAYS home with me. I do not allow people to my home for our OWN safety. This is pretty much common sense.
We do offer to meet buyers or potential buyers in a safe public place. This is either at our local Tractor Supply during normal business hours. If some buyers want extra sense of safety, we can also meet at our local sheriff department if there is any worry of cash exchange. I completely understand a buyers concern about personal safety and I can respect that.
After reading this page, I hope you can understand why I do not do meetings at my home. If you're concerned about the welfare of my animals, please do not worry. I have multiple references and I am also licensed with the Georgia Department of Agriculture. This means my home and animals are inspected regularly to ensure they're cared for in the most appropriate and upheld way.
